Desperate Charles Green has turned to the airwaves in a bid to salvage his Ibrox share issue.


Green put in a call to Radio Clyde to talk up the share issue which appears to have been shunned by supporters who had the opportunity to invest.
Supporters were expected to pour their millions into the share issue but with less than a day to convert pledges into cash it seems that rank and file fans are set to invest around ÂŁ3m.
Green had set aside ÂŁ10m of shares for fans to snap up but now looks certain to re-allocate them to institutional investors.
The former Sheffield United chief sounded downbeat having previously talked up the amount pledged when the share issue was launched.
“Over 10,000 people have registered and pledged,” Green said in October. “ Those pledges in total were in excess of £21m. That’s the level of support from Rangers fans.
“Let’s be honest. Some people might have done it while the wife was out shopping. By now, the £5k might be reduced to £2,500.but even if that overall pledge amount is halved, it will still be £11m and that from fans in this climate is an amazing achievement.”
Green claimed that the failure of the fans to invest would have no effect on his future plans for the club.
The prospectus was only published on Friday December 14 and has been overlooked by the financial media in Scotland despite extensive coverage given to Green and his claims since arriving at Ibrox in May.

CHARLES GREEN last night insisted the Rangers share issue was a big success – even though fans will struggle to meet half of his £10million target for them.



The Ibrox chief executive ring-fenced ÂŁ10m of shares for punters in the flotation, which ends at 1pm today.

Only between ÂŁ3m and ÂŁ5m had been brought in from fans by last night.

But the overall target for the share issue was over ÂŁ20m and Green insists that will be reached due to an impressive response from institutional investors.

He said: “The indications are there’s something like £3m-£5m there (from fans) so we’ll see what happens.

“In any amount it is a huge success. We said we wanted a figure over £20m and we have achieved that.”

Green also took another swipe at HMRC as he blamed them for the “awful” timing of the flotation.

And he claimed some supporters had only received prospectuses late last week due to printing problems.

Speaking on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard, he said: “It’s before Christmas and the timing is awful.

“The main reason we are doing it is because in May when I was unveiled as the buyer of Rangers I made a promise to fans we would list this year and they would be allowed to buy shares.

“We’ve raised a substantial amount from institutional investors and the money is still pouring in from fans.

“I have to say, in support of the fans’ position, there have been issues with the documentation that came out from the printers.

“The company secretary here only got his copy on Thursday. Some of the prospectuses and application forms that were posted didn’t reach families in Glasgow until Wednesday or Thursday. That denied precious time.

“We tried to get this done earlier. I’m frustrated that we lost two months at the start of the process expecting a CVA to go through but HMRC at the last minute decided not to go ahead with it.

“Then we’ve seen recently the Big Tax Case thrown out. I’m particularly frustrated that if we had been allowed a free rein this could have been done months earlier.

“Yet again it’s the poor fans who are having to stump up at the last minute.”

Boss Ally McCoist has invested in the club and last night revealed he had also given his sons the gift of Rangers for Christmas.

McCoist, who declined to reveal the extent of his investment, said: “All I can say is I’ve bought shares for my family – I have five boys. I don’t know if that’s a vote of confidence or not but I imagine a lot of fans will make it a family thing.

“I’ve been told that, as an employee, I’m not legally allowed to say buying shares is a good or a bad idea.”






Nur ca. 3-5 Mille von den Fans ? Haben die nicht bei weitem mehr Supporter in dieser weiten fernen Welt ? Aber der Zeitpunkt ( Weihnachten ) ist daran Schuld. Ich denke einfach, das Vertrauen in den Herren ist nicht gross genug.

Gestern gab es beim Spiel der Schlümpfe einen Protest gegen Green. Dieser möchte die Namensrechte des Ipox verkaufen. Im Laufe des Spieles gab es im Stadion auch Auseinandesetzungen zwischen deren super Fans und der Polizei. Ja, die sind uns immer einen Schritt voraus, wenn es heisst unangenehm aufzufallen. Aber waren bestimmt Chelski Fans, die sich mit Celts, natürlich verkleidet als Polizisten prügelten.

Was für ein verlogener Bastard!!! Hat seit er im Amt ist nichts anderes zu tun, als fortwährend Unfrieden zu stiften und die eigenen Fans mit seinem billigen Populismus gegen alles und jeden aufzuhetzen, und sorgt sich jetzt um die öffentliche Sicherheit?

Aber auf das Spiel kann man sich jetzt schon freuen, wird mit Sicherheit kein angenehmer Gang fĂĽr die huns im Tannadice!

Ist es verboten Gate Money zu kassieren ? Ist in der SPL so üblich und auch nichts illegales mit dabei. Und es gibt sicherlich Schlümpfe, die ihre Mannschaft spielen sehen möchten. Was dieser Green macht ist echt super, mit dem werden wir, wie die Blauen auch noch sehr viel Spass haben.

Keine Sorge, Lhad, der Green sitzt auf einem Pulverfass. Noch ist alles im Lot, er hat seinem Fußvolk eingeredet, dass eine Liquidation das Normalste auf der Welt ist und dass die Zukunft rosarot ist. Die werden jetzt lässig 3x aufsteigen und dann heißt es für ihn Farbe bekennen. Geht er einen wirtschaftlich soliden Weg, haben die The Rangers im nächsten Jahrzehnt den 2. Platz in der SPL gebucht. 10 Punkte hintendran und dann Wintertransferfenster ala Willo Flood. Wollen sie um die Meisterschaft mitspielen, muss er den Whyte/Murray machen (Schulden). Ich denke mit beidem wird sein Fußvolk nicht sonderlich einverstanden sein.

Auf jeden Fall eine interessante Konstellation aktuell im Westend. Ein größenwahnsinniger Populist, der sich schon fast wie der Anführer einer Sekte präsentiert. Und auf der anderen Seite eine Fanbase, die im letzten Jahr lernen musste, dass Sprüche nicht alles sind.

Wenn mein Englisch besser wäre und ich genügend Startkapital hätte, würde ich eine Boulevardzeitung in Glasgow kaufen. Denn Schlagzeilen wird es auch in naher Zukunft bald wieder sehr viele geben...

Interessant finde ich, wie die Hunnen auf ihn anspringen. Sobald er sich negativ üver SPL und andere Vereine äußert ist es plötzlich eine logische Kriegserklärung. Zudem haben Leute nur Hoops an weil Sie die Rankers hassen und nicht weil sie Celts sind.
