Former Hibernian forward Derek Riordan has been training with Kilmarnock with a view to moving to Rugby Park until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old, capped three times for Scotland, will play in a bounce game against Rangers at Murray Park on Tuesday afternoon.
Riordan has been without a club since a disappointing spell with Chinese outfit Shaanxi Chan-Ba.
He left Hibs in July for the Super League club, but departed in November.
Kilmarnock are looking for a replacement for Dean Shiels, who is set to return to Doncaster after a successful loan period.
"Derek likes our way of playing," manager Kenny Shiels told BBC Scotland.
"He knows it would suit both parties.
"We would benefit from him and it's an opportunity for him to express what he can do."

However, Shiels senior has not given up on keeping his son in Ayrshire.
"It's dual purpose," he added. "If we keep Dean, they've got a great understanding those two, as anyone from Hibernian will tell you - they played really well together.
"There's that and the replacement option. All Derek wants to do is play football so hopefully something might happen, but it's a bit pie in the sky at the moment.
"He would have the freedom to play and go and express himself. We wouldn't want him to do any defending.
"We'd just play him in an area where he can exploit other team's weaknesses and certainly with the quality he has it would be suited to our style of play.
"But there are lots of things that have to be resolved which I can't go into detail on."
Riordan, who spent two seasons at Celtic between his two periods at Easter Road, has scored 95 Scottish Premier League goals - making him the third highest goalscorer in the history of the competition, behind prolific Old Firm duo Kris Boyd and Henrik Larsson.
