Corby’s Glasgow Rangers Supporters Club has closed its doors after struggling for months with financial problems.



The club, in Rockingham Road, was once said to be the largest Rangers supporters club in England.

It is now up for sale and the site is expected to be bought by developers. Proceeds of the sale will be used to pay off its debts. A notice on the front door says the locks have been changed on behalf of the receivers. It is understood Probitas, insolvency practitioners in Sheffield, are dealing with the club’s affairs.

The building is being sold on behalf of the receivers by Andrew and Ashwell, commercial property agents based in Leicester.

“It is a great shame that the club has been forced to close. It was a real landmark in Corby.

“Like many other clubs and pubs in the country trading was difficult because of the recession. The rate they are closing is frightening.”

The club had a travel section which organised coaches to Rangers’ home games.

When the club opened it had around 1,500 members and it is understood when it closed on Sunday there were only 220 on the books.

A Rangers fan, who asked not to be named, said: “As a Rangers fan I’m sad the club has closed but I’m sadder for the community as it provided activities for the elderly and for children.

“It was a community hub. Corby still has a large Scottish community and the club was part of our heritage.”

Alle anderen schottischen Clubs freuen sich ĂŒber die positiven Schlagzeilen fĂŒr den schottischen Fußball und senden öffentlich GlĂŒckwĂŒnsche, die bieten dem Gegner jede Form von Hilfe an und stellen sogar ihr eigenes Training zurĂŒck (!!!) nur um uns möglicherweise schaden zu können! Krank...

Rapid hat einen Teil der noch ausstĂ€ndigen Ratenzahlung der insolventen Glasgow Rangers fĂŒr den Transfer des kroatischen StĂŒrmers Nikica Jelavic erhalten. Eine neu gegrĂŒndete Gesellschaft, die den Profibetrieb des schottischen Rekordmeisters vom Insolvenzverwalter gekauft hat, habe einen Betrag in der Höhe von 820.000 Euro ĂŒberwiesen, hieß es in einer Aussendung der HĂŒtteldorfer am Mittwoch.

„Rapid erhebt daher keinen Einspruch dagegen, dass diese neue Gesellschaft zukĂŒnftig an internationalen Bewerben unter der Bezeichnung ‚Glasgow Rangers‘ (bzw. ‚Rangers FC‘ oder ‚Rangers Football Club‘) teilnehmen darf“, teilte Rapid weiter mit. Diese Zahlung habe aber keinen Einfluss auf die Forderung der GrĂŒn-Weißen „in der Höhe von 1.187.000 Euro gegen den ursprĂŒnglichen Vertragspartner Glasgow Rangers plc, und somit bleibt diese im vollen Umfang im Insolvenzverfahren aufrecht erhalten“.

25 Prozent der Rangers-Zahlungen fließen an Zulte Waregem. Bei dem belgischen Verein hatte der 27-JĂ€hrige vor seinem Engagement in Wien gespielt. Jelavic war im August 2010 von Rapid nach Glasgow gewechselt, im JĂ€nner des Vorjahres wurde er dann von den insolventen Rangers an Everton verkauft.

Ich versteh das nicht: Rapid bekommt statt der knapp 1,2 Mio nur 820.000 und hat dann "keinen Einspruch gegen die Teilnahme an internationalen Spielen":
1. Welche internationalen Spiele: die SchlĂŒmpfe sind so weit weg von Europa, wie Calmund von der Idealfigur.
2. Woher nimmt der marode Verein die Kohle von 820/m ? - gab es einen Lottogewinn in GLA ?
3. SchrÀg auch die Meldung "kein Einspruch", aber die 1,2 Mio-Forderung bleibt in vollen Umfang im Insolvenzverfahren aufrecht - da muss man wohl JUS studiert haben, um das zu kapieren....

"And for a man (Dave King) who is the second largest shareholder in the club, with 5%, to actually go out publicly and recommend that the creditors vote down the CVA, it seems to me quite unbelievable, because what we're doing in that is saying the history, the tradition, everything that's great about this club is swept aside."

"Rangers will slip into liquidation within the next couple of weeks with a new company emerging but 140 years of history, triumph and tears, will have ended. No matter how Charles Green attempts to dress it up, a Newco equals a new club. When the CVA was thrown out Rangers as we know them died. Hearts agree cut-price deal with Rangers over Lee Wallace

Hearts have agreed a cut-price deal with Rangers over the remainder of the transfer fee for Lee Wallace.

The cash-strapped Tynecastle club were due to receive ÂŁ500,000 this summer as the final payment on his ÂŁ1.5m move to Ibrox in July 2011.

But BBC Scotland has established that the clubs agreed last week Hearts would receive ÂŁ400,000 immediately as full and final payment for the defender.
