Lennon, however, fears the worst over his move for Sol Campbell.

The Hoops boss, who rubbished a link with Olympiakos star Matt Derbyshire, said: "I have had no contact with Sol or his agency since he was up at Parkhead."

Edixon Perea is wanted by clubs in Scotland and England, according to his British agent.


Edixon Perea is attracting interest from clubs in Scotland, according to his agent. The Colombian striker is available on a free transfer after leaving Brazlian side Gremio in the summer after a two-year spell.

Prolific with Colombian side Atletico Nacional earlier in his career, 26-year-old Perea earned a move to Bordeaux in 2005. But he struggled for goals in Ligue 1, finding the net just three times in 38 appearances for Girondins in two years.

Gremio took the bustling forward back to South America in 2008, fielding him 40 times, during which he scored 11 times. He has been without a contract since March but his British representative, Barry McIntosh, said interest was growing in the UK for his client’s services.

“A number of Premier League clubs have asked about Edixon and are keen,” McIntosh told Sky Sports. “I will not discuss names, but there is interest from England and Scotland.

“That does not surprise us. If he was still at Gremio, we know they would be asking £10million for him. He is a proven international player and is more than confident he can be a success over here.”

At international level, he has represented Colombia on 18 occasions, finding the net four times. His last goals for his country came in 2008 when he scored twice against Uruguay in a 2-2 draw with the team which went on to finish fourth at the 2010 World Cup.

Perea has been left out of recent squads by Hernan Gomez, who has preferred Wigan Athletic striker Hugo Rodallega and Hertha Berlin’s Gustavo Ramos in attack.

Gremio released Perea early from his contract, with the striker receiving just over ÂŁ25,000 in compensation from the Tricolor for ending his deal prematurely.

Harry Redknapp admits Robbie Keane might have to leave Tottenham Hotspur to kick-start his career.

The White Hart Lane boss has been full of praise after Keane's impressive showing in pre-season training.

But Redknapp knows that his Republic of Ireland striker won't want to stick around if there is no regular starting place on offer at Spurs.

Robbie is a fantastic professional, who trains hard and wants to play,' said the Spurs manager. 'I still think he has a lot to offer. The thing is he wants to play all the time.

'There is every chance he could start the season, but if it doesn't work out then I am sure he will be the first one to come and tell me that he needs to play somewhere.'

Redknapp would like to add a world-class striker to his ranks before an assault on the Champions League and has not given up hope of signing Luis Fabiano from Sevilla.

With Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko also vying for a place up front, it is perhaps inevitable that a striker will leave the north London club this summer.

Celtic would like Keane back after taking him on loan for the second half of last season, but a lack of funds will hamper attempts to buy him permanently.

Aston Villa are mulling a move for the 30-year-old and could make a move if James Milner secures a transfer to Manchester City.

Ich bin davon überzeugt, daß Lenny im Moment Kohle ausgibt, die ihm das Board ohne die Verkäufe die noch kommen werden zugesagt hat. Mit der Kohle von Aiden, Hinkel usw. kann er im Moment ja noch nicht rechnen. Werden die genannten erstmal verkauft, werden wir auch noch 2-3 namhafte Spieler verpflichten. Und ich bin mir ganz sicher, daß zumindest ein Kracher dabei sein wird. Irgendwann in naher Zukunft erinnere ich euch an meinen vorletzten Satz in diesem Posting.

Mc Geady hat geäussert, daß er den Verein verlassen möchte. Glaub mir eines, mein Herz blutet, wenn er mal nicht mehr bei uns ist. Mir wäre auch wohler, wir würden zuerst Hinkel, Samaras und Co verkaufen. Warten wir mal ab, was sich in nächster Zukunft noch alles tut.

Das gilt aber fĂĽr Mc Geady ebenso, wie fĂĽr einen Hinkel auch. Wenn Mc Geady fit ist und das ist er, muss er auch spielen.

Naja, er kann wohl zu genügend englischen Vereinen wechseln die nicht International vertreten sind. Dazu sollten wir aufpassen die derzeit beste Mannschaft auf das Feld zu schicken und nicht alle Spieler die wir möglicherweise verkaufen könnten außen vor lassen...

Hinkel not on Celtic's Champions League squad list

Andreas Hinkel is not eligible to play against Braga on Wednesday, despite travelling to Portugal with Celtic and training on Tuesday night.

Andreas Hinkel has been left off Celtic’s squad list for their Champions League game with Braga, despite travelling with the squad to Portugal and training with the side on Tuesday night. The German right-back has just one year left to run on his contract and revealed last Wednesday he had been told to consider any offers to leave the club.

Uefa confirmed to STV Sport on Wednesday morning Hinkel’s name was not on the 25-man roster, raising suspicions the former Sevilla player could be on his way out at Celtic Park in the near future.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has instead added Milan Misun’s name to his pool, providing cover to the left-back position. Charlie Mulgrew is expected to start in Portugal, with Cha-Du-Ri playing on the right.

South Korean international Cha was recruited over the summer to provide competition for the right-back spot, while Mark Wilson, Paul Caddis and another recent arrival, Mexican Efrain Juarez, also available to take Hinkel’s place.

Hinkel spoke out a week ago, claiming Lennon had told him to consider his options if another team came in. “The manager has talked about the players with just one more year left,” said Hinkel. “He has spoken to me about that.

“I know I have just one more year and if there is an offer or something else I have to think about it, but so far there is nothing.”

With Paul McGowan having moved on loan to St Mirren and Paul Caddis left out of the squad ahead of a possible switch to Swindon Town, Celtic could fill only seven of the required eight spots for homegrown players in their squad for Braga.

For that reason, former Motherwell right winger Paul Slane was chosen to fill the eighth slot. Richard Towell, Cillian Sheridan, James Keatings and James Forrest were also included. But, as they are all aged 21 or under, they were included on List B, which doesn’t form part of the 25-man squad.

Hat uns sicherlich auch zu interessieren: Der ehemalige englische Nationalverteidiger Sol Campbell (35) hat einen neuen Verein gefunden. Er schließt sich bis Saisonende Aufsteiger Newcastle United an, nachdem sein Vertrag beim FC Arsenal nicht verlängert wurde.

Bin am Ende eigentlich ganz froh ihn nicht geholt zu haben.
