New Celtic Academy intake sign on with the Hoops
The latest batch of 10 Celtic Academy prospects have signed their first professional contracts with the club ahead of the new 2022/23 season and are taking the next step on the player pathway to what they hope will be a career with the Hoops. If any of the new Bhoys need any inspiration or an idea of just what they can achieve, then they need look no further than Callum McGregor who, like them started at the Celtic Academy as a youngster, lifted silverware with them and is now doing the same as captain of the first team, with other graduates including James Forrest and Kieran Tierney among many others.

LEEDS have joined Manchester City and Spurs in the chase for Celtic wonderkid Rory Mahady. The 15-year-old is one of Europe’s top goalkeeping prospects, with several clubs keen to prise him away from Celtic. But the big English trio are leading the pack.
Mahady has been playing for the Hoops U17s but can’t sign an official professional contract until his 16th birthday in August. That has sparked a race to land him, with City first out of the blocks to express an interest in the last few weeks. But they now face stiff competition from their Premier League rivals.
Celtic do not want to lose the teenager but are increasingly resigned to the fact they’ll likely be gazumped by someone down south this summer. With English clubs now limited by Brexit rules, they are increasingly looking north for young players and trying to poach the best of them. Rangers look set to lose highly-rated striker Rory Wilson to Aston Villa. And 16-year-old Ben Doak swapped Celtic for Liverpool in April despite getting minutes for Ange Postecoglou's first team. Celtic already lost young goalkeeper Vincent Angelini who made the Premier League switch to Watford during the 20/21 season at the age of 17. And Mahady is set to become the next promising Old Firm kid to opt for England instead of trying to make the breakthrough in Glasgow.

Immer wieder das gleiche Spiel. Dieses Abwerben von Spielern, die gerade mal 15 sind, macht eine nachhaltige Jugendarbeit wirklich extrem schwer und oftmals einfach wahnsinnig frustrierend.

Celtic youngster joins Leeds United as another highly-rated Hoops kid leaves for the Premier League
CELTIC have lost yet another academy prospect as highly rated young goalkeeper Rory Mahady sealed a stunning move to English Premier League side Leeds United. The recently turned 16-year-old made the decision to leave Lennoxtown after attracting attention from Jesse March's side and English giants Manchester City. And it has now been announced that the shot-stopper has penned a two-year professional contract with the Lily Whites youth set-up before he heads off to Scotland's U18 camp.

Celtic are delighted to announce the latest group of young players to have signed their first professional contract with the club as they take the next step in their career. Ahead of the 2023/24 season getting underway, 13 players have put pen to paper, each of them signing three-year contracts. The players are: Kalvin Bennett, Cole Crawford, Rhys Dargie, Ronan Ferns, Marcus Gill, Finlay Hale, Robbie Heron, Samuel Isiguzo, Andrew Kyle, Jamie Meikle, Tom Pickford, Robert Rachwal and Aidan Rice. For all the young players at the club, they have great role models in captain, Callum McGregor and James Forrest, both of whom graduated from the club’s Youth Academy.
Last season proved to be another successful year for the Academy. Alongside those players who made their debuts for the first team, the Celtic FC B squad also lifted the Glasgow Cup, and the Under-18s achieved Scottish Youth Cup final success at Hampden Park. Everyone at the club wishes all the players every success as they continue their football journey here at Celtic.
