Foeke Booy says he is anticipating a call from Celtic about Michael Silberbauer.

Utrecht technical director Fooke Booy says Celtic have an interest in midfielder Michael Silberbauer and he expects them to launch a bid for him in January. The player, who captained the Dutch side in their Europa League play-off win against the Hoops, is out of contract in the summer.

The Eredivisie side have already resigned themselves to losing the player and are now prepared to take a fee for him to leave in the January transfer window. Booy confirmed that he had set a price for the player and that he thought Celtic would be in touch with Utrecht in the near future.

“We have had discussions with Michael’s agent and told him the price we want before he gets to work,” the technical director said.

“Celtic have expressed an interest in him and I expect them to deal with us in early January.”

Booy revealed that there were other clubs monitoring the player but that Celtic were the side who had shown firm interest. The Parkhead club have scouted the player on several occasions this season, most recently in the Europa League match against Liverpool.

Formerly of Aalborg and FC Copenhagen, Silberbauer - who can play in central midfield and on the right flank - has been an ever present for Utrecht over the last two and a half seasons, scoring six goals.

At international level, he made his last appearance in the Euro 2012 qualifier against Portugal in October, a match Denmark lost 3-1. His sole international goal from 16 appearances came in a friendly win against Finland in 2005.

Gegenüber Samaras hat sich meine Meinung nach wie vor nichts geändert. Wegen einem guten Spiel in letzter Zeit mach ich einen Verbleib ganz sicher nicht abhängig. Ich hoffe echt, daß man sich von gestern nicht blenden lässt. Aber das Gerücht um Boyd sollte eher auch ein Gerücht bleiben.

Celtic are to begin negotiations over the transfer of Norwegian international striker Erik Huseklepp. Representatives from Brann Bergen have travelled to Glasgow to agree a deal for the forward that could see him join Neil Lennon’s side during the January transfer window.

Huseklepp was one of the stars of Norway’s 4-0 demolition of Scotland in a World Cup qualifier in August 2009 and has been watched by Celtic scouts in recent months. The SPL club have now opened talks with his club and Brann’s general manager Roald Bruun-Hanssen is in Glasgow to discuss the terms of the deal that could see Huseklepp become Celtic’s first signing of 2011.

The 26-year old striker scored 10 goals for Brann last season and has three international goals, against France, Portugal and Ireland, in Norway’s last six matches.

Recent form has seen the player attract the interest of a number of clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Blackburn and Newcastle United but Celtic are at the front of the queue to seal the player’s signature.

“There have been some phone calls and some agents have been in touch,” Huseklepp told TV2.

“I don’t know if I will move. I’ll just wait and see but I do dream about playing abroad. I’ll just wait and see what happens.”

Reports in Norway have suggested that Brann will seek a fee of around ÂŁ1 million for a player who only recently agreed a new deal. However, the negotiations may be complicated by the fact that investment company Hardball helped Brann with the financial package that was put to Huseklepp.

Never the less, Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell will lead talks with the Norwegians in the hopes of securing a deal to add the forward to Neil Lennon’s squad. The Celtic manager has said that he hoped to add another striker to his squad in the transfer window.

Though the Norwegian season finished in November, Huseklepp told TV2 that he would be fit to hit the ground running at a new club, having taken care of himself during the close season.

“I’m in good shape,” he said. “I have trained a lot during the holidays on strength, stamina and football.”
